Outreach Presentations

Our staff are available to provide remote presentations using various video-teleconferencing platforms based on your agency or organization needs at no cost. We will be conducting virtual-only presentations until further notice, and scheduling is based on availability. We will update our website with any changes. Please try to submit presentation requests at least 30 days prior to your scheduled event. Below is a complete list of available presentation topics.

Current State of Cybercrime

This one-hour presentation provides an overview of the different types of profit-motivated cybercrime targeting US businesses, governments, and private citizens. Staff will provide an overview of the tactics and trends in cybercrime, including, but not limited to, ransomware, business email compromise, social engineering, data theft, skimming devices, and other extortion tactics. A Q&A session with attendees will conclude the presentation.

Ransomware Prevention

This one-hour presentation will provide the audience with an understanding of ransomware, a type of malicious software that attempts to extort money from victims by restricting access to computer systems, mobile devices, and files. Staff will outline how ransomware works, why it’s so prevalent, and how individuals and organizations can best protect themselves from a ransomware infection. Videos demonstrating the following will be shown: the ransomware infection process, the impact of a ransomware attack on a small business, a hacker’s advertisement promoting the sale of a ransomware kit, and a brute-force attack on an RDP port. A Q&A session with attendees will conclude the presentation.
