NJCCIC Data Breach Notification

Original Release Date: 7/24/2019

Summary

Clinical Pathology Laboratories (CPL) has become the latest victim of the American Medical Collection Agency (AMCA) security breach impacting approximately 2.2 million patients. This brings the total number of potential AMCA breach victims to over 22 million. In March 2019, AMCA, a third-party debt collection agency, was informed of a breach that began with a security incident in August 2018. Compromised information includes patient names, addresses, phone numbers, dates of birth, dates of service, balance information, credit card or banking information, and treatment provider information. At this time, the impacted patients are limited to those whose accounts were referred for debt collection and whom reside in the US. CPL is investigating the incident further and has since severed affiliation with AMCA.
